The Daily Doodles |
My name is David Michael Chandler, and everyday I will post a Daily Doodle with a story attached to it. Everything you see here has been written, drawn, and coloured all on my lonesome. I hope you enjoy them, or die trying. Please E-mail anytime at thedailydoodles@gmail.com |
“The Girl Who Lost Her Colour”
THE GIRL WHO LOST HER COLOUR, has been feeling very glum
It seems like she lost her gusto, or maybe has just grown dumb
She can see the world’s full of colour, but she’s covered in foggy mists
No matter how much she tries to brighten, the greyness still persists.
People keep asking her for ‘reasons’, as if she’s breaking sacred laws.
She just knows it is how she feels, even if there is no discernible cause.
She could see it in the mirror, as her colour slowly faded away
And it steadily got dimmer, until it was eventually gone one day.
She used to hope that her colour, can be coloured in by a handsome boy
But she knows that that is fleeting— she has to be able to colour in her own joy.
She wanders amongst the bright people, each a lovely vivid shade.
They look like the people on TV, all self-confident and self-made
She thinks they can tell she’s different, as she’s blinded by their glare
Always feeling like she doesn’t fit in, that no one could possibly care.
Disappearing into her own darkness, she dreams of being a shiny vivid hue
All she wants is to find her colour, but she just doesn’t know what to do.

“The Girl Who Causes All of the Problems in the World”
I am why my parents divorced,
I am why every social encounter is awkward and forced
Spending time with me is like seasoning your wound with salt,
And that is because absolutely everything is always my fault
People are only nice to me because they feel bad
I make them all miserable, and instantly sad
I wish it was different, but it’s my not-so-secret shame
That I am the one who is always to blame.
No one is quite sure just what to do with me
They all seem so confident, living happy and carefree
It’s no wonder everyone hates me with all the problems I cause,
I bet if I died tomorrow there’d be an avalanche of applause.
I swear I don’t mean to cause problems, but why would they believe?
So I’m going to just sit in this corner, and never ever leave.

“Monsters Can Cry Too”
Just because he’s big and strong, he can still be glum
Monsters have feelings too, no matter how fearsome.
His heart beats the same as ours; just fueled by murderous glee
Their lives have the same ups and downs and bouts of melancholy.
The Monster is already ashamed, he doesn’t need your scorn
He simply wishes everyone was dead and that he was never born.
While he’ll take that back later, of course, for now it feels true.
His heart is filled with sorrow and he doesn’t know what to do.
His tears don’t make him weak or less of a savage beast
Soon he’ll be back on top and having a human baby feast.
Don’t try to make him feel better, there’s nothing you can say.
For now the Monster cries… and that is quite okay.

“Drowning in Thoughts”, a Haiku
Alone in the dark
The depression floods her brain,
Drowning her with thoughts.
