The Daily Doodles |
My name is David Michael Chandler, and everyday I will post a Daily Doodle with a story attached to it. Everything you see here has been written, drawn, and coloured all on my lonesome. I hope you enjoy them, or die trying. Please E-mail anytime at thedailydoodles@gmail.com |
“Space Can Be So Lonely”
Everyone on the ship is dead, except for me and you only
And as we’ve come to learn, space can ever be so lonely.
As the last survivors of the virus, we ran into each other’s arms
Feelings grew so quickly, while we were drunk on each other’s charms.
We’d carelessly toss around words, like “always”, “fate”, and “love”
And we’d swear that the other was a gift, sent from Heaven above.
And I’ll admit that it was nice, as everything was new!
We disinfected the ship, and jettisoned the dead crew.
But when everything calmed back down, we entered that malaise,
As we got to really know each other, and left the lavender haze.
It’s just been a few weeks, but you’re already so annoying
You’re judgmental and dense, and creepily cloying.
I’ll happily ignore it for now, since I don’t wanna be alone,
But we’ve run out of things to say, and you dull me to the bone.
I can tell you feel the same, but there’s not much we can do
We’re the only two around, so we both pretend that “I love you”.
I’ll still hold you every night, and whisper sweet things in your ear
But the main reason that I love you, is that no one else is here.
(Thank you to the Amazingly Talented Samantha of Other-side-of-the-universe.com for giffing this for me!)

“It Was Better Being Lonely”
(Part 10 in the ongoing saga of Wayne and Isabella, the Ghosts with Relationship Problems)
He lays there like a lump, snoring wheezily
And Isabella doesn’t get how he can sleep so easily
The stress of their life keeps her awake into the night
Staring out in the dark until the first break of light.
So much has changed, and she can’t remember why,
the thought of being alone used to make her want to cry.
The concept feels like a dream, like a vision from a past life
As now she’s with this unbearable man, stuck as his wife.
Isabella’s mind wanders, and she tries to imagine the day
When they can admit it’s not working, and go their separate way
But that won’t happen soon, and they’ll both continue the charade
Pretending not to be miserably unhappy, living together as a fraud.
Tears quietly stream down her face, and she wishes that if only
She could travel back in time, and return to just being lonely.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY EVERYONE! :-D

“Pull the Trigger”
Bleeding profusely from the carelessly aimed gunshot, the creature stumbles across the forest floor, leaving a red clumpy trail of its innards behind.
Philip Hobbs, annoyed at himself for bungling the wide open shot, follows closely behind and finds the poor creature wheezing within the shrubbery, the leaves shaking from the bleeding beast’s agonizing trembles.
Philip raises his gun to finish the job, but as he looks into the surprisingly soulful eye of the vicious beast… he pauses. Even though he knows he needs to do this, and he can see what pain the poor creature is in… he can’t stand to pull the trigger. He just can’t.
Cursing himself for his selfish weakness, he stands there staring at the wounded beast as the blood seeping from its open wound soaks into the forest floor and mixes in with the dirt and twigs, forming canals that slowly trickle towards Philip’s new boots.
For 3 hours he watches the beast writhe in agony, finally dying a painful and slow death, and for 3 hours he knows that he needs to put it out of its misery.
But still, he doesn’t.

“A Close Call”
As Alex Dorsey looks across the crowded room at Mariangela Diaz, he has no idea that in 99.99999% of the parallel universes that him and Mariangela both exist in, they actually meet at this party and embark on a horribly destructive and lengthy love affair that ruins both of their lives and leaves them bitter, hollow shells of their former selves… creating a legacy of pain and sorrow for generations.
FORTUNATELY, this version of Alex and Mariangela happen to live in the parallel reality where Mariangela picked up smoking at the age of 16 (which only occurs in .00001% of the parallel universes she exists in), so that when Alex spotted her from across the room, he thought to himself “I don’t like smoking” and then quickly looked away… never to think of her again.
While each of their paths in time led them here, in this reality they do not continue together… neither of them ever knowing how close they came to lives of pure misery.

“One Last Regret”
(Part of the ongoing saga of Wayne and Isabella, the “Ghost Couple with Relationship Problems”)
As the taxi pulls up, Isabella looks back at Wayne watching through the window, and their eyes meet for one last time.
Having agreed on the divorce, and with Isabella moving out, it hits Wayne that it really is all over… the fighting, the heartbreak, the marriage, all of it has finally come to an end.
But as he watches her leave, tears welling up in his eyes, all he can think about is all of the unsaid insults he still had left to say. Extremely biting, hurtful comments that prey on her insecurities and would really destroy her… ugh! He so wishes he had a reason to say them right now; if only maybe they could have just one more argument…!
There are so many things he can’t stand about her, and he only got to tell her a fraction of them. It simply isn’t fair.
It’s a shame, really.
The only solution, Wayne realizes, is to date someone just like Isabella so that he has all of the insults ready to go.
