The Daily Doodles |
My name is David Michael Chandler, and everyday I will post a Daily Doodle with a story attached to it. Everything you see here has been written, drawn, and coloured all on my lonesome. I hope you enjoy them, or die trying. Please E-mail anytime at thedailydoodles@gmail.com |
“The Inexorable March of Time”
Time moves slowly, when you’re a child
The free summers drag on, so sunny and mild
Yesterday was forever ago, and tomorrow is even worse
The wait for each birthday feels like a sinister curse.
Soon, the weeks become months, the months become years
Time slips by so quickly, and your memory smears
It all blends together, and you forget what it’s like
To feel time is endless, like when you were a tyke
Time moved slowly, when you were a kid
But soon all that you do, becomes all that you did.
It shouldn’t be frightening; time is all relative
While you can’t slow down your life, you can be sure to live.

“The Boy Who Dreams of the Best Way to Die”
The young boy gazes off into the distance, lost in a dream
He decides while a good life is important, the end is supreme!
While everybody dies, not all deaths are equal
If a movie ends poorly, you don’t wanna see the sequel.
But Gosh! How can he decide? There’s so many ways to go!
Maybe rescue some orphans and then melt in an acid flow?
Perhaps bugs nibble him dead slowly, deep in the Amazon,
Or gangsters machine-gunning his face in Azerbaijan?
He could drown at sea happily, but is there a better choice?
If he could jump on a nuke to save a town, he’d certainly rejoice.
Ooh how about leaping in a volcano, to appease primitive angry gods?
Or kidnapped by aliens and gruesomely dissected in their space-pods.
So many great ways to die! As many choices as the day is long.
And as long as the funeral is a closed casket, then no choice is wrong.

“When The Brain Goes POP”
Marcus Sherman’s mind was wandering, whilst he was out on a stroll
And though he was just minding his business, not bothering a soul,
His brain decides to POP, and a bubble of old memories explode
Unleashing ancient shame and regret that he had deeply burrowed.
Because memories don’t stay down forever! Slowly their pressure will rise
And the more you ignore it, the more it grows exponentially in size.
Until the day it POPS! no matter how much you’ve built your defenses
Your body freezes, your brain melts, and flashbacks fill all your senses.
And for that moment, you suffer, living through all of it again.
Your mind bouncing back and forth between all the bad memories of then.
But with the pressure now released, the feeling eventually dissipates
And you stuff it all back in its tiny hole, where it again grows and waits.
