“Nothing is Forever”
Tired of fighting with mom, and knowing that dad doesn’t really care
Ann had to be somewhere else, and it didn’t matter where.
So she runs away from home, going to the park right down the street,
She decides she just live here forever, and her life will be complete.
As the evening falls, blanketing Ann with the starlit night,
She looks up into the heavens, enjoying the galactic sight.
All those different worlds, it’s hard to fathom that it ever ends
The stars will always be there, unlike her family and friends.
But as Ann sees a shooting star quickly fade away and die,
She realizes nothing is forever, not even the stars in the sky.
Some of the twinkling lights above, are already dead and gone
Their worlds faded away to nothing, never waking to another dawn.
And one day in the future, the Andromeda Galaxy will swallow us whole
Even though it’s not for a while, Ann knows it’s out of our control.
Everything is temporary, even all of her problems and her fears,
Obsessing over the day to day almost seems like a waste of tears.
Even if the ‘now’ feels like forever, nothing will ever last
And everything that’s wrong today will tomorrow be in the past.
Ann breathes in the cool air, soothed by the night so vast and deep.
And when the sun finally rises, she sneaks back home to go to sleep.

“The King of the Silly Gooses”
There once was a boy who was such a silly little goose
He wrapped a rope around his parent’s necks and tightened the noose
And just when they were hung within an inch of their life
He graciously cut them down with his silly butcher’s knife
And then, gasping for air, his parents happily said—
“Oh thank you our silly boy, for not hanging us dead!”
And the boy bowed and responded, “why, think nothing of it!”
Before stabbing them with a homemade shiv right in their gullet.
He then sillily severed their heads; chained a spike through each dome
And then went on a wacky parade all over their silly home.
As he marched and he stomped, he bellowed out loud:
“I am the King of the Silly Gooses, and of that I am proud!”
(Dedicated to my nephew Cooper, who is turning 2 years old today!)

“The Pretty Neat Trick”
Daddy was calling Mommy some quite silly dilly names
And while Cooper normally liked most of Goofy Daddy’s games,
Mommy was only crying, she wasn’t having any fun :’-(
So Cooper had to put Papa in time out, so he stops hurting everyone.
Cooper had kept it as a secret, but he knew that if he focused hard
He could get inside others’ heads, and explode them like a petard.
Cooper only counted to three (but he could count all the way to five)
And said “Daddy stop being naughty if you want to stay alive!”
Daddy didn’t seem to listen, he was too busy being grouchie
So Cooper had to get his attention by making him ouchie.
He invaded Grumpy Daddy’s brain and spread as quick as germs
Then proceeded to rip his brain apart and turn his muscles into worms.
Cooper giggled gleefully, and thought that Daddy must like this trick
Because Daddy is finally quiet, and was liquifying pretty quick
His skin melted down like porridge, and his fingernails scabbed off
Then all his internal organs were expelled with a wet, hacking cough.
Cooper stops and bows, and watches his Daddy’s body drizzle
The runny lard falls in plops and his popped eyeballs hiss and sizzle.
“Daddy please understand, this hurts me more than it hurts you”
“You have to consider the ramifications of everything you do”
But Daddy didn’t respond, and Cooper just hoped the lesson had been learned
Mommy helped Cooper hide the body, and had Daddy’s possessions burned.
Later as she tucked Cooper into bed, she smiled and wept a single tear
And told Cooper that she was officially nominating him for Boy of the Year.
Hooray for Cooper!

“The Tea Party”
My Daddy never ever had time for tea,
Because my daddy never ever had time for me.
But now he’s my tea party’s permanent guest,
After he let me sever his head, at his behest.
While his mouth may have said “No”, his heart said “okay :-)”
Why he’d never had tea with me, one could not say…
It’d ache in my soul, and I’d feel so alone
The pain in my heart would cut to the bone. :’-(
But he is here now, and here he will stay
First we’ll drink tea, and then forever we’ll play!
<3 <3 <3 I love you dad! <3 <3 <3

“To Dream to Be Alone”
Fatma leans over her birthday cake (a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, chosen because it is Fatma’s mother’s favourite cake instead of Fatma’s preferred carrot cake), as her 7 siblings impatiently squawk for Fatma to blow out the candles so they can wolf down the dessert.
Her mind wanders as she ponders what to wish for, and the loud bustling of her family slowly fades away as an empty calmness creeps in…
What would it be like to be alone
No one bothering me on the phone
I’d make cheese sammiches 3 times a day
Then sit and eat carrots while I draw away
Finally living life being second to none
I wouldn’t have to care about anyone
No more worries, no more stress
No longer having to clean up another’s mess
I wish I could be, with no friends or family
Just exist by myself as I drink cups of tea…
A loud shriek pierces Fatma’s reverie as her younger brothers start slapping each other, snapping Fatma back to reality.
Fatma blows out her candle, and gets back to the birthday party her family wanted.

“The Post-Funpocalypse”
(A Classique Doodle from 10/18/2011)
In the months leading up to the apocalypse, people sure seemed to be making it sound like a big deal… but now that it has happened, Brian Hawkins doesn’t get why there was such a fuss. What the heck were they worried about? The apocalypse is awesome.
Still grinning from ear to ear since his dad let him put in the final head-shots to kill the Nuclear Mutants they just came across as they navigate the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Earth, Brian steps back mentally for a moment and reflects on the wonder of it all— out on the open road, less people to deal with, adventure every dang day… he’s even already killed 17 men and mutants and he’s only 9 years old… that’s almost 2 for each year he’s been alive! That’s so cool!
Plus, since clean drinking water is so scarce, his mom isn’t bugging him about taking a bath. She didn’t survive the apocalypse, of course, so she isn’t around to bug him even if there WAS enough water, but still. And last week when scavenging through a pile of rotting corpses, he found a real Indian arrow-head necklace!
The best part, though, is now he finally gets to spend time with his papa… before the apocalypse, dad was always in the office working, traveling; Brian hardly saw him. But now that the rest of his family is dead, he gets all the father and son bonding time a boy could ever hope for.
It just feels nice.
The post-apocalypse is the most fun he’s ever had, and Brian hopes that civilization never claws its way back from the pits of hell.

“Because You Were Bad”
(A Classique Doodle from 9/29/2011)
After his mom died, Little Edgar cried every night.
He wished she could come back and tell him it’s alright…
And one night she appeared, as he lay dreaming in his bed!
Through teary eyes he asked her, “Mommy, why are you dead?”
She sighed softly, tilted her head, and quietly said—
“Oh, dry your eyes my child, don’t be so sad!
The only reason I died, is because you were bad.”
“You never cleaned your room directly after being told
And you’ve grown less cute as you’ve grown more old.
You fought with your siblings; wouldn’t eat your veg’
You gave me no other option but to jump off that ledge.”
“It’s your fault I’m dead, because you just wouldn’t behave
And I hope this lesson haunts you till you’re rotting in a grave.”
With that! she is gone, disappearing into space
And bitter tears roll down Little Edgar’s grubby face.
While he’s sorry for all the naughty things he did
He knows it’s too late… he’s just a bad kid :-/

“You’re Going to Die in Space!!”
Jamie Drew’s mother’s last sneer echoed in his head every morning of every day… “You’re going to die in space, little man!!!”.
The words powered him all the way through college, the Pre-Astronaut masters program, Astronaut school, the residency on the Moon, and even the revered Space Academy, motivating him to show her she was wrong and fat and stupid and dumb.
“What the hell do you know about SPACE?!” he’d scream at her memory in his head, “I’m a goddamned astrophysicist, MOM, you don’t know anything!!!!!”
But as the cheap twine safety rope that hadn’t been replaced for years due to budget cutbacks caused by the profit-centric privatization of space SNAPPED, severing him from his tether to the celebrity gossip channel’s satellite he was repairing, he realized… dammit.
My stupid mom was right.
And that was a fate worse than death itself.

“Goodnight, Son”
O’ father o’ father, I love my dog so
I’d be ever so sad, if she were to go :’-/
Hush my sweet boy, it pains me to see you cry!
I just want you to know, your dog will certainly die.
But please do not worry! Because there is more
Me and your mother shall die, just as ours did before.
Your sister’s tender hearts will clog up and burst,
(Although, statistically, you’ll likely die first).
Our whole family will be gone, and not remembered at all
And the sun will explode into a gigantic fireball.
As the sun dies, it’ll become a deadly blackhole
Where no light can escape it, and neither can your soul.
The earth will be sucked in, life as we know it will end
It’s the one certainty of existence of which you can depend.
So you have no reason to worry! We’re all born to be dead
Just close those tired eyes, and rest your weary head.
Goodnight, son.
