The Daily Doodles |
My name is David Michael Chandler, and everyday I will post a Daily Doodle with a story attached to it. Everything you see here has been written, drawn, and coloured all on my lonesome. I hope you enjoy them, or die trying. Please E-mail anytime at thedailydoodles@gmail.com |
“Space Can Be So Lonely”
Everyone on the ship is dead, except for me and you only
And as we’ve come to learn, space can ever be so lonely.
As the last survivors of the virus, we ran into each other’s arms
Feelings grew so quickly, while we were drunk on each other’s charms.
We’d carelessly toss around words, like “always”, “fate”, and “love”
And we’d swear that the other was a gift, sent from Heaven above.
And I’ll admit that it was nice, as everything was new!
We disinfected the ship, and jettisoned the dead crew.
But when everything calmed back down, we entered that malaise,
As we got to really know each other, and left the lavender haze.
It’s just been a few weeks, but you’re already so annoying
You’re judgmental and dense, and creepily cloying.
I’ll happily ignore it for now, since I don’t wanna be alone,
But we’ve run out of things to say, and you dull me to the bone.
I can tell you feel the same, but there’s not much we can do
We’re the only two around, so we both pretend that “I love you”.
I’ll still hold you every night, and whisper sweet things in your ear
But the main reason that I love you, is that no one else is here.
(Thank you to the Amazingly Talented Samantha of Other-side-of-the-universe.com for giffing this for me!)

On the snowy street
Knowing it was for the best,
She hugs him, goodbye.

“It Was Better Being Lonely”
(Part 10 in the ongoing saga of Wayne and Isabella, the Ghosts with Relationship Problems)
He lays there like a lump, snoring wheezily
And Isabella doesn’t get how he can sleep so easily
The stress of their life keeps her awake into the night
Staring out in the dark until the first break of light.
So much has changed, and she can’t remember why,
the thought of being alone used to make her want to cry.
The concept feels like a dream, like a vision from a past life
As now she’s with this unbearable man, stuck as his wife.
Isabella’s mind wanders, and she tries to imagine the day
When they can admit it’s not working, and go their separate way
But that won’t happen soon, and they’ll both continue the charade
Pretending not to be miserably unhappy, living together as a fraud.
Tears quietly stream down her face, and she wishes that if only
She could travel back in time, and return to just being lonely.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY EVERYONE! :-D

“I Am The Only Creature Who Will Ever Love You”
I know sometimes you feel sad, and worry you’ll always be alone
You just want someone to hold you, or to call you on the phone
But if you’re told there’s someone else out there, you gotta know it’s lies
I am the only creature who’ll ever love you, and I hope you realize.
I see you’re about to scoff, and say that what I claim ain’t true
But do you really think you deserve someone GOOD to love you?
I may not actually be a human, but I’m the best you’ll realistically get
And you’re lucky that I would even love you, so you shouldn’t be upset.
While I may not be rich, able to buy you all you want and more,
I make up for it by being stupid, with a personality that’s a bore
And you’d think that something this ugly, would at least be nice
But I’m actually pretty mean, with a demeanor as cold as ice.
Your insecurities will be my puppet strings, upon which I shall yank
You’ll become a shell of your former self, your soul bereft and blank
You’re convinced that you must love me, because why else would you stay?
And you’ll believe no one else would have you, like some sad cliche.
It’s up to you to relinquish, the hopes of having a good relationship,
It’s the only chance I have, for you to fall for my mind game trip.
So, don’t listen to your heart, or that sensible voice in your brain
Just let your low self esteem guide you, even if it feels insane.

“Pull the Trigger”
Bleeding profusely from the carelessly aimed gunshot, the creature stumbles across the forest floor, leaving a red clumpy trail of its innards behind.
Philip Hobbs, annoyed at himself for bungling the wide open shot, follows closely behind and finds the poor creature wheezing within the shrubbery, the leaves shaking from the bleeding beast’s agonizing trembles.
Philip raises his gun to finish the job, but as he looks into the surprisingly soulful eye of the vicious beast… he pauses. Even though he knows he needs to do this, and he can see what pain the poor creature is in… he can’t stand to pull the trigger. He just can’t.
Cursing himself for his selfish weakness, he stands there staring at the wounded beast as the blood seeping from its open wound soaks into the forest floor and mixes in with the dirt and twigs, forming canals that slowly trickle towards Philip’s new boots.
For 3 hours he watches the beast writhe in agony, finally dying a painful and slow death, and for 3 hours he knows that he needs to put it out of its misery.
But still, he doesn’t.

“One Last Regret”
(Part of the ongoing saga of Wayne and Isabella, the “Ghost Couple with Relationship Problems”)
As the taxi pulls up, Isabella looks back at Wayne watching through the window, and their eyes meet for one last time.
Having agreed on the divorce, and with Isabella moving out, it hits Wayne that it really is all over… the fighting, the heartbreak, the marriage, all of it has finally come to an end.
But as he watches her leave, tears welling up in his eyes, all he can think about is all of the unsaid insults he still had left to say. Extremely biting, hurtful comments that prey on her insecurities and would really destroy her… ugh! He so wishes he had a reason to say them right now; if only maybe they could have just one more argument…!
There are so many things he can’t stand about her, and he only got to tell her a fraction of them. It simply isn’t fair.
It’s a shame, really.
The only solution, Wayne realizes, is to date someone just like Isabella so that he has all of the insults ready to go.

FAQ TWITTER FACEBOOK

Wayne The Ghost has been divorced from his ex-wife Isabella for a solid year now, and as he tip toes back into the dating world he is trying to be as aware as possible of any and all ‘warning signs’— over-possessiveness, intellectual insecurity, being raised as an only child, etc etc.
He knows in the past he has been guilty of ignoring the various hints that a relationship won’t work out (in his defense, it was because he is stupid), so Wayne is determined to not let history repeat itself.
As he dates each new ghost though, he finds that while they seem so different at first, they all eventually remind him of his ex-wife— but what is the connection?
And then, as he’s on the fifth date with a nice ghost lady who has no female friends, he finally realizes the answer— the warning sign they all shared, was that they liked him.
That warning sign alone reveals deep-seeded psychological problems and personality flaws that simply can’t be worked around.
The obviousness of it all makes Wayne lose his appetite, but he takes solace in the fact that at least now he knows that if he ever wants to have a happy relationship, he just has to find someone who can’t stand him.

Ethan clenches his eyes tight, sensing the looming shadow standing at the foot of his bed. He doesn’t dare take a peek…
Ever since his father left to go live with his other children that he had in an affair, Ethan can feel this monstrous shadow pass over his tightly closed eyes as he tries to sleep. He can even smell it’s rancid breath as it sucks in gulps of the small bedroom’s stale air, each tiny noise magnified as he lays in quiet fright each night.
He called his dad at work yesterday, but the secretary said he wasn’t in. Ethan knows he was there. He’s always there.
In the morning, he will take the bus to see the new family, the new children that his dad loves so much more and see why they’re so great… but for now, his body is frozen in terror, waiting for the creature he knows is there to hopefully not eat him.
He bets his dad’s other children don’t have this monster in their room, because his dad is there to scare it off. If he can convince his dad to come back, even if only for one night…
Ethan wishes he knew what he did wrong :’-/

Atop Candy Cane Hill, the Princess Queen of the Land of Sweets surveys her domain— the Brownie Mountains topped with coconut in the distance, the rushing of Chocolate River, the delicious aroma of the licorice and gumdrop fields on the wind, the Gummi Forest and Donut Valley… all so beautiful and scrumptious.
As the magic Sugar Faeries sprinkle candy dust over the kingdom and her loyal Lollipop-Man subjects march and sing, the Princess Queen of the Land of Sweets wishes this world was real and it wasn’t just an imaginary realm to escape her parent’s divorce.
There’s nothing left for her back in the Land of Real.
