The Daily Doodles |
My name is David Michael Chandler, and everyday I will post a Daily Doodle with a story attached to it. Everything you see here has been written, drawn, and coloured all on my lonesome. I hope you enjoy them, or die trying. Please E-mail anytime at thedailydoodles@gmail.com |
“Other People’s Lives”
Sarah looks out her window, at the building across the way
She sees people quietly existing, at the end of a long day.
Most of the rooms are dark, or behind their blinds they hide
But some are living wide open, letting Sarah take a peek inside.
She wonders who they are, and what sort of lives they’ve led
As they mill about, she tries to imagine whats in their head.
What are or were their dreams? Are they experiencing a private hell?
That old lady is always alone… at least as far as Sarah can tell.
What was her childhood like? Have they ever been in love…?
She hopes the reality’s better, than anything she can conceive of.
The kitty cat catches her peeping, and peers right into her soul
Then it yawns and stretches languidly, lazily eating from its bowl
She wonders if the man fought in the war, as he seems to be that age
Sarah tries to delve into his memories, while he reads and turns the page.
So many different lives to imagine, and the thought haunts her to the bone
Eventually she stops watching other people, and goes back to living her own.

“The Girl Who Is Okay”
Angela Camblor gazes out at that evening’s full moon
While city lights are nice, the starlit sky makes her swoon.
She inhales deep the crisp Spring air and feels quite alright,
And reminds herself to be aware that it’s a wonderful night.
There were problems before, and there’ll be problems to come
And what matters to her might not matter to some
But even though she was never one to go whinge and whine,
She knows how rare it is to feel absolutely fine.
So Angela savours the feeling, before it has passed
While the nice evening will end, it won’t be the last.
She’ll wake up in the morning and have another day,
Forever knowing in her bones that she’s perfectly okay.
