"The Legend of the Melting Boy"
THE BOY HAD TO GIVE A SPEECH, in front of his class
Nervous and clammy, would he fail or pass?
He wishes more than anything he could just disappear
Everyone staring at him— it’s the boy’s greatest fear!
His nerves make him shiver, quiver, and shake.
He tries to talk, but no sound can he make!
As he opens his mouth, his teeth all fall out
His eyeballs and tongue begin to leak like a spout
The boy’s skin melts away in thick glippity glops.
Pounds of flesh hit the floor with drippity plops
His wish to disappear is granted,
And he dissolves into a thick gruel.
But… he receives an incomplete,
And has to give the speech in summer school.
