The Daily Doodles

ANNA LEFT THE PHILIPPINES, to find a better way.
Working as a chef across the globe, and now it’s her birthday.
She relaxes and reflects; reminiscing on all that came before
When she spies a glowing glob of plasm, hovering by the door.

“A Ghost!” she gasps quietly, “But it better not haunt me now”
“This is my special day, I’ll make it go away somehow!”

Anna chases it around the room, but it floats just out of reach
Finally she snatches and squeezes it tight, and it lets out a lil’ screech.

“Darnit Ghost, why are you haunting me, I didn’t do anything to you!”
The ghost sobs and stammers out “B-b-but haunting’s not what I do!”

“Why, I’m simply a reminder, of everything from the past.”
“I’m your ancestors, your memories, lessons you’ve amassed”
“Remember I’m just here to help, even if some of me is sad”
“But I’ll always be here to guide you, so please don’t be so mad :-/”

Anna smiles, loosens her grip, and stares into its ghostly gaze
“I understand completely— you’ll help me navigate life’s maze”
“You’re my oldest friend, and you’ve been there all along!”
“I’m sorry I was cross with you; I realize I was wrong.”

So together they laughed and danced, sharing a birthday filled with glee
Now that Anna made peace with her Ghost, she lived forever happily.
